Next up in our 2026 NZ Marist U23 Development Tour squad is Connor Hawkins from Napier Old Boys' Marist Rugby
Wearing the No. 10 jersey, Connor lines up at First Five-Eighth – one of the most influential positions on the field. The No. 10 is the team's chief playmaker, directing the attack, making split-second decisions, controlling field position with the boot, and creating opportunities for those around him. It takes confidence, vision, and composure under pressure – qualities Connor brings every time he steps onto the park.
🏉 Pregame Ritual: Every match starts the same way — a dedicated kicking routine, a walk around the field, and even putting his socks on in the same order. It's all about preparation and consistency.
💬 Best Advice: "Control what you can control. Don't stress about what you can't. Work hard, back yourself, and enjoy the game." Simple advice that's become the foundation of his approach.
⚡ Rugby Legend: Beauden Barrett. Connor models his game on Beauden's ability to control a match, attack space with speed, and create opportunities from anywhere on the field.

Napier Old Boys' Marist Rugby are saddened to learn of the passing of long time HB Rugby supporter and administrator Chris Kitto.
Chris gave so much time to not only HB Club rugby but many other community groups and will be missed dearly.
Chris's funeral will be held at Dunstall's funeral home, Edwards Street Napier at 2pm monday. The family have asked if those Attending can wear their Club Rubgy jersey to acknowledge his love of the community game.
