It is with great sadness that we inform you of the passing of a senior member of our club, Phillip Beck, who passed away over the past weekend.
Phil, husband of Lesley Beck, had a lifelong involvement with the former Napier Marist Sports clubs — both cricket and rugby — as well as with the amalgamated Napier Old Boys Marist Club.
On the rugby side, Phil was a player right through to Premier level, a committee member, club chairman, and later club president. For his outstanding service to the Napier Old Boys Marist Rugby Club, Phil was honoured with Life Membership in 2010.
A service to celebrate Phil’s life will be held at St. Mary’s Church, Saturday at 1.00 pm.

Well done to former NOBM player Jack Nelson-Murray and current squad member Josh Gimblett on their win over Clontarf RFC in Dublin. Jack managed to get across the line in the victory for St Mary's – great to see the #greenmachine boys making an impact overseas! 💚💙🤍

Napier Old Boys Marist Under 13s Christchurch Rugby Trip Fundraiser Auction.
Please see attached a few awesome auction items for this team’s fundraiser on Saturday.
How about a piece of art for the wall from well-known artist Josh Lancaster, or a whole-house installed water filter system from Devine Plumbing, or a signed jersey?

Please come and back our NOBM Under 13 Junior Rugby team as they prepare for their exciting trip to Canterbury in 2026. We are hosting a great afternoon at the Napier Old Boys clubrooms with live rugby on the big screen and plenty of fun along the way, that includes auctions, and raffles, Be sure to bring your wallets, we have a print of the Te Pohue All Black Woolshed, a signed Ritchie McCaw AB jersey and Tom Parson’s signed HB jersey plus lots more.

🏉 HB Saracens Rugby Festival 2025 🏉
In damp conditions today, 12 young men proudly represented NOBM U15s at the HB Saracens Rugby Festival — and what a day it was! 💚💙
⚡ Game 1: Took a while to get going but finished strongly against a well-drilled Pirates side (24–10).
⚡ Game 2: A real seesaw battle with Eskview, eventually going down late (17–10).
⚡ Game 3: A big, physical Maraenui team started fast, but the boys showed true grit and a never-say-die attitude to finish strong (25–15).
Not quite the results the lads were chasing, but some awesome rugby played and fantastic to see our former junior players come together again wearing the club colours. 🙌
A huge thank you to coaches Dave, Glenn & Rory for getting the boys together for the day. 👏

NOBM GOLDEN OLDIES ACTION
Who's ready for an adventure? On 21st September, we're taking a bus trip to Ashhurst to play…..
We'll be leaving around 9.00am and returning to Napier approximately 7.30pm.
The price tag is $35 per person, and Wade needs to know our numbers by the 12th of September.
As usual we will supply the playing kit, medical bag, and some beers.
